Rene Rancourt takes Bruins ice for last regular season game

BOSTON — Rene Rancourt has become a household name for Bruins fans, with his signature fist pumps always sending TD Garden into a frenzy. On Sunday night, he'll fist pump for one last regular season game.

Rancourt announced earlier this season that he'd be retiring after 42 years singing the U.S. and Canadian national anthems before Bruins home games.

When the Bruins play their regular season home finale Sunday night, fans will see Rancourt's own finale.

Spoiler alert for those wanting to be surprised by Rancourt's fist pumps: He'll be giving a rare four-count when he's done singing.

Rancourt told the Boston Globe he'd give his first pump to the Bruins bench, then one to his family, one to the fans and one last one for good measure.

The Bruins and TD Garden will honor Rancourt before the game begins at 7:30.

Meanwhile, the Bruins are hoping to send him and the fans home happy by clinching the top seed in the Eastern Conference with a win Sunday night against the Florida Panthers.

However, NHL.com reporter calmed everyone's fears when she announced Rancourt will still sing the national anthem for the Bruins home playoff games. Those games will start at TD Garden on Thursday night no matter what seed the Bruins earn, with the Celtics playing at home Wednesday night.
