Cam Newton taken off COVID-19 list, set to return to practice Thursday

Cam Newton was taken off the Reserve/COVID-19 list Wednesday afternoon and is expected to return to practice when the Patriots get back to work Thursday in Foxboro. Newton was placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list Saturday, October 3 and missed New England’s game against Kansas City.

Newton played well in the Patriots first three games as he led the team to a 2-1 record to start the season. In his absence, Brian Hoyer and Jarrett Stidham quarterbacked the squad against the Chiefs.

Stephon Gilmore posted to Instagram earlier this week he was “ready to go," but teammate Devin McCourty said Gilmore is still going through the process to hopefully return soon. Gilmore remains on the Reserve/COVID-19 list along with Bill Murray and Byron Cowart.
