Red Sox report to Fenway Park for training camp

BOSTON — For the second time this season, the Red Sox have reported for the first day of camp.

After spring training was abruptly halted in March, players returned to their homes, some working out while others struggled to find facilities that were open.

On Friday, workouts are scheduled to begin at Fenway Park. Weights and other exercise equipment were set up Thursday in the concourse to allow players to work out with more social distancing than would be possible in the usual cramped facilities. Players reported to Fenway on Wednesday to undergo coronavirus testing.

The 60-game shortened season is scheduled to begin on July 23 or 24, but Red Sox fans won’t be able to attend.

The Red Sox’s schedule has not been released yet, but the Sox will play 40 games against American League East opponents and 20 games against National League East opponents.
