David Backes has elbow procedure

BOSTON — Boston Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney revealed an update on injured forward David Backes on Wednesday morning.   "David Backes underwent the removal of the olecranon bursa from his elbow on Monday. His condition will be updated after the weekend."

Backes signed a five-year contract worth $30 million with the Bruins in the offseason. So far he has blended in perfectly with his new teammates with two goals and four points in the Bruins’ first five games

The Bruins have recalled rookie forward Austin Czarnik from Providence.   Czarnik will join the team for their pregame skate and be available for their game against the Rangers.

Austin Czarnik has skated in two games with Boston in 2016-17 – his first two career NHL games – and recorded two penalty minutes. He has also skated in two games with Providence this season, posting one goal and two assists for three points.
