TAMPA, Fla. — The Bruins' postseason run has ended after losing to the Lightning in Game 5 on Sunday.
After taking a 1-0 lead in the first period, the Lightning fired back with two second period goals from J.T. Miller and Brayden Point to take a 2-1 lead into the third period.
An empty net goal with 1:29 left in the third period gave the Lightning a 3-1 lead to end it.
The Bruins couldn't overcome a 3-1 series deficit, and were trying to do so without one of their key defensemen, Torey Krug. The team had announced Saturday that Krug would be out for the remainder of the series after an ankle injury in Game 4.
Bruins forward David Backes also left the game early in the second period after a big hit.
