BROCKTON, Mass. — For days thousands of frustrated dry cleaning customers have been left in limbo about if they would be able to get their clothes back after Zoots locations across the state shut down abruptly.
But a new ruling from a bankruptcy judge could help people get their clothes back.

A facility in Brockton where Zoots handled much of the now-bankrupt chain’s dry cleaning and garment restoration will reopen to clear the backlog.
Zoots locations will open Friday, Feb. 2 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. to allow customers to retrieve items.

That decision is thanks to a federal judge’s emergency order issued Thursday.
A former Zoots manager told Boston 25 News he feels for the tough position that customers were put in.
“These clothes are people’s personal belongings,” Lucas Vered said. “And these are people that we worked hard to develop relationships with.”
The former manager said Zoots also hurt employees, by taking their most recent paychecks back out of employee’s bank accounts.
That caused some former workers to unexpectedly bounce checks.
The state Attorney General’s Office said it has received multiple labor complaints from Zoots workers.
