BOSTON — A Boston University professor accused of sexually harassing two students has been removed from a scheduled performance with the Wyoming Symphony Orchestra, according to a release.
The Survivors Network for those Abused by Priests (SNAP) has called for the orchestra to end their affiliation with professor Eric Ruske after two students claimed they were sexually harassed by the professor.
According to the Casper Star-Tribune, Ruske was set to play Saturday and Sunday with the orchestra on the Casper College campus.
"We are grateful and relieved that the Wyoming Symphony won’t let an accused Boston sexual harasser play with them," SNAP spokesperson David Clohessy said in a press release. "They moved quickly and appropriately in this case. We applaud their sensitivity."
Erin Shyr and Maria Currie, a current and former student at Boston University, filed the lawsuit against Ruske, who is a renowned horn player and professor.
The complaint filed Tuesday alleges Ruske made "offensive, vulgar, and sexually charged" comments to Shyr and Currie.
The lawsuit says when the women complained to administrators, BU showed "negligence and deliberate indifference."
"Those who respond poorly to reports of sexual harassment should be punished," Clohessy said. "Those who respong promptly and properly should be rewarded."
