SALEM, Mass. — A local woman is recovering in the hospital after falling down a garbage chute.
The incident happened Monday morning at the Loring Towers apartments in Salem.
Police say a 19-year-old man paid the woman to help him get his keys that he had dropped down the chute.
The woman was lowered down on a sheet but the sheet ripped and she fell 3 stories onto the compactor.
The compactor then turned on and broke her leg.
The woman is listed in fair condition at a Boston hospital.
