WEYMOUTH, Mass. — Weymouth Police are investigating a pair of overnight business break-ins, Captain Richard Fuller confirmed to Boston 25 News.

Police were called just before 5 a.m. for a reported past burglary at the Burger King on Washington Street. Less than half-hour later, police were called to Jimmy’s Diner on Broad Street for a similar report.

Police had responded to an alarm system alert at Jimmy’s Diner overnight. When officers arrived, the doors to the restaurant were open, but no one was inside. Police couldn’t get ahold of the owner at the time, so they secured the building and left. The owner told police his restaurant was locked up when he left on Sunday. He said his office appeared to have been rifled through and items may have been stolen.

A Burger King employee told police wires to the restaurant’s alarm system were cut.

Detectives searched both buildings for evidence.

The investigation is ongoing.
