West Nile Virus found in mosquitoes in Jamaica Plain

JAMAICA PLAIN, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Jamaica Plain residents are urged to take precautions after a mosquito pool there tested positive for the West Nile Virus, Boston's Public Health Commission announced Tuesday.

This is the first discovery of the virus in Boston this summer, and so far no human cases have been reported.

The commission says residents should use insect repellant or wear long sleeved shirts and pants when outdoors, especially from dusk to dawn, which are peak hours for mosquitoes.

Symptoms of the mosquito-borne illness include fever, headaches, joint and muscle pains well as memory loss.
