Man arrested in connection to car thefts and break-ins in Walpole

WALPOLE, Mass. — Walpole Police have arrested a man in connection to string of car thefts and break-ins that happened Wednesday night into Thursday morning.

Police arrested Nicholas Deberry, 27, of Walpole after recovering two of the stolen cars.

A number of vehicles were reported broken into or stolen by residents who live in the area of School, East, and Kendall streets, police said.

Police say they found one of the stolen cars at a nearby cemetery not too far from where it was taken. The keys were left on a wall.

The first vehicle stolen on Hanson Avenue two nights ago was found in Boston after it crashed and the driver ran off. The other three were all located unoccupied in Walpole.

The chief says most of the targeted vehicles were left unsecured and had keys hidden inside.

"They knew what they were doing. You don't just come into someone's yard 15-feet away from the front door and rifle through the four cars," said victim David Cuddy.

Foxborough Police are dealing with similar crimes.

Deberry is being charged with larceny of a motor vehicle, carrying a dangerous weapon and possession of a class B substance.

Walpole investigators are still investigating to see if anyone else was involved.

Walpole Police are asking anyone with any information to contact detectives at 508-668-1212.
