Vigil for slain Woburn woman

Dorchester, Mass. — Candle, hugs and memories of Sherrel Pringle at a candlelight vigil in Dorchester where the 40 year old woman grew up.

“Cherrelle was a great person she lit up the room everywhere that she was present,” said Amalia Borgess, who was a friend of Pringle.

Other friends tell Boston 25 her life was taken too soon.

“It’s a tragic, tragic, tragic thing. She’s going to be missed and loved by everyone,” said a woman at the vigil who declined to share her name.

Pringle was living in Woburn. Her family reported her missing and searched for her themselves. They found her body in Saugus last week. Her family contends police didn’t take the missing person’s report seriously.

“They saw a purse so they parked the car and they walked back up where they saw it. And there she was there she was,” said Pearl Garner who was Pringle’s mother.

25 investigates has learned Pringle was stabbed dozens of times.

Her boyfriend Bruce Maiben was later arrested. He’s accused of tampering with evidence and interfering with the investigation into her death.

Pringle’s friends packed the Roberts Playground to honor her memory.

“She was a funny person and she had a great character And everyone loved her and as you can see by the big turnout today, the love speaks for itself,” said Borgess.

They also came to comfort her family.

“To support her mom and her son and her brother. That is the main thing. We are here with each other as long as we stick together we are a great support system,” said Charlene Pirkle, a friend of Pringle.

As the vigil ended family and friends released balloons into the night sky sending their love along with them and amid these shouts: “We love you Rellie!”

A funeral for Pringle will be held on Wednesday. Her boyfriend’s case was postponed on Tuesday. He’s due back in court next month.
