Victim in shooting near Brigham and Women’s Hospital released nearly 2 weeks later

BOSTON — A man injured after being shot near Brigham and Women’s Hospital in early February has been discharged, according to a statement from the hospital on Wednesday evening.

That victim was a valet for the hospital and was shot on February 7 when a thought-to-be-armed suspect just outside Brigham and Women’s prompted a police response. A sequence of shots fired by police was followed by a car chase that ended in Brookline, where the suspect, 41-year-old Juston Root, was shot dead.

According to the statement from Brigham and Women’s, a GoFundMe has been set up to help the now-released victim.
