Uber driver attacked by passenger in Downtown Boston

BOSTON — It was a regular night driving for Uber in Boston when M. D. Aziz went to pick up a fare in Downtown Boston that changed his night.

That passenger was in the rear seat of Aziz's car when he started yelling and swearing. Aziz was able to catch it all on tape.

"He started with 'F Uber'... he tried to show his muscle," Aziz said.

Soon it escalated and the passenger's friend helped get him out of the car, but that wasn't the end of it.

"When he got out he kicked my car. You see the dent and scratch on my car," Aziz said.

The car is only three months old and on top of the car payment Aziz now has to deal with the damage.

"I bought the brand new car to driver for Uber. I have a payment to pay you know. I have a bill to pay and if I don't my credit will be a mess," Aziz said.

It happened around 2 a.m. Friday right outside The W Hotel. Aziz spoke with police after the incident and on Saturday he filed and official report and showed police the video.

Uber issued a statement about the attack.

"Behavior like this is unacceptable on the Uber platform, We have been in touch with the driver-partner to ensure he is OK and the rider has been banned from further accessing the platform. Safety of both our driver-partners and riders is always our priority," the company said.

The driver said he's still concerned for his safety.

"I'm worried, and my wife is. I didn't work last night," Aziz said.
