WAKEFIELD,Mass. — A Massachusetts State Police Trooper and a tow truck driver were injured after a vehicle hit them on Interstate 95 in Wakefield Tuesday morning while they were assisting another driver, according to the MSP.
The trooper and driver were with a disabled vehicle on the northbound side on I-95, near exit 40, when they were struck just after 6 a.m., according to a statement from MSP spokesman Dave Procopio. They were transported to Lahey Hospital in Burlington with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
Procopio said the trooper called the incident in after he was hit.
The car then crashed into the tow truck. Two other people may have been injured, according to the statement, but further details were not available.
Police are investigating if weather or road conditions may have contributed to the crash. No charges have been filed.
The right lane remains closed and traffic is backed up a few miles.
