EL PASO, Texas — Drug smugglers tossed packages containing cocaine and methamphetamine balls over the border wall that separates California and Mexico, authorities said.
According to a U.S. Customs and Border Patrol news release, the packages were thrown over the border wall on separate occasions over the weekend, KXAN reported.
U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the El Centro Sector found the abandoned packages on a residential street that runs along the international boundary at Calexico, which is located halfway between San Diego and Yuma, Arizona, the CBP said in its release.
On Friday, agents found a package containing 66 grams of cocaine, KXAN reported. The cocaine had an estimated street value of $6,600. Two nights later, agents found a ball of meth that weighed 158 grams and had an estimated street value of $3,900, the television station reported.
El Centro Sector agents turned the drugs over to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, according to the CBP release.
