HUNTS POINT, N.Y. — An illegal fight club that attracted more than 200 people was shut down Saturday night by the New York City Sheriff’s Department.
Billed as “Rumble in the Bronx,” the large indoor gathering netted 10 arrests of organizers for illegal combat, no liquor license, loaded firearms and multiple violations of novel coronavirus restrictions, WABC reported.

According to WPIX, city and state officials have repeatedly urged residents to avoid large gatherings and follow social distancing rules as the number of COVID-19 cases surge across the region.
More than 9,000 new cases were reported in New York and New Jersey on Saturday, according to a Johns Hopkins University tally.
The sheriff’s department also shut down illegal gatherings in both Chelsea and Brooklyn, each of which attracted more than 200 people, over the weekend, WABC reported.
