ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Anchorage police were searching for a man whose ankle monitor hadn’t moved, only to find the man had been murdered.
The victim, Keenan Wegener, had been wearing an ankle monitor as part of bail conditions set for an open burglary charge, The Anchorage Daily News reported. It was that ankle monitor that led police to find Wegener, when officers with the pretrial enforcement division noticed the device hadn’t moved in two days.
In the arrest affidavit for one of the suspects in the case, police said when they arrived at Wegener’s home and pinged the ankle monitor, they were able to hear the device. They eventually followed the sound to the garage, where there was a white sheet blocking a portion of the room. The officer “said he moved the sheet to the side and immediately saw a body in a large tote on the floor, which was behind the sheet.” The officer who found the body said the victim looked like he had been beaten.

Police arrested Adam Pringle and Daniel Rocero, who are both facing second-degree murder charges. The owner of the building told police she had seen Pringle and Rocero arguing with Wegener before he died, The Anchorage Daily News reported.
