3 teens dead, 1 injured after shooting at Texas convenience store

GARLAND, Texas — Three teens were killed and another man was wounded after a shooting at a Texas convenience store Sunday evening, authorities said.

The shooting occurred at a Texaco convenience store in Garland at about 7:30 p.m. CST, KDFW-TV reported.

Update 12:30 a.m. Dec. 28: A 14-year-old was arrested Monday in connection with a convenience store shooting in Garland, Texas, that left three people dead and one in critical condition, Garland Police Chief Jeff Bryan said during a news conference.

In a news release, the three victims from Sunday’s shooting were all teenage boys. They were identified as Xavier Gonzalez, 14, Ivan Noyala, 16, and Rafael Garcia, 17, the released stated.

Another teen, 15, was in stable condition at an area hospital, Bryan said.

Original report: Police said the victims “seemed to be together” and were near the restaurant located at the front of the store when the gunman exited a white Dodge four-door pickup and began shooting as he walked through the store’s door, WFAA-TV reported.

When officers from the Garland Police Department arrived at the store, they found three people dead at the scene, The Dallas Morning News reported. A fourth person was injured and taken to an area hospital, the newspaper reported.

Police said the suspect is a man who was wearing a baseball cap and blue surgical mask, KTVT-TV reported. He was not wearing a shirt and was wearing basketball shorts, the television station reported.

The victims’ identities were not immediately released, and police said a motive and the circumstances that led to the shooting were still being investigated, the Morning News reported.
