DES MOINES, Iowa — A woman is in serious condition after she was accidentally shot at an Iowa senior living facility Friday night, police said.
The incident, which police believe was accidental, happened at 6:40 p.m. at the Silver Oaks Senior Living complex in Des Moines, KCCI reported.
Des Moines police responded after receiving a 911 call, the television station reported. The caller told police he had accidentally shot his girlfriend, according to KCCI.

The woman was taken to an area hospital with a gunshot wound to her torso, the television station reported. The wound is not life-threatening, police said.
Authorities interviewed the man to confirm details, KCCI reported. Police are still investigating the incident.
