Transit officers save apparent overdose victim at Dudley Station

ROXBURY, Mass. — MBTA police officers are being commended for helping save a woman's life after she fell to the ground from an apparent overdose.

Witnesses took photos after a woman collapsed from an apparent overdose at Dudley Station in Roxbury. Transit officers on scene rushed over and began giving her CPR, using a bio shield mouthpiece.

"They helped her. They were trying to revive her and all that. Called an ambulance and everything. Stayed with her until they came," said Reginald Lefty.

Those who witnessed it say the woman was alert when she was taken away by ambulance.

The woman who posted the photos of the unidentified woman says the officers saved her life.

"I'm glad the police were present. MBTA. Glad their presence was here because people falling down all the time," said Lefty.

Transit officers were not available to talk on camera, but the head of the MBTA police is commending their actions.

"We are very proud of our officers whose dedicated work mostly goes unnoticed on a daily basis," said Transit Superintendent Richard Sullivan.
