Tips from public prompt Wareham drug investigation, land 3 people in jail

WAREHAM, Mass. — Tips from the public prompted Wareham Police to launch a drug investigation that landed three people in jail Tuesday, Chief John Walcek said.

Police have been investigating suspected drug dealing at 6 Windy Hill Drive over the past two weeks, according to Walcek.

Detectives set up surveillance at the home on Tuesday and followed the suspects as they drove to multiple places in Wareham and New Bedford.

Police swarmed the suspects that afternoon when they pulled into the New England Farms, located near the Wareham police station.

Walcek said officers arrested the three people in the car and found heroin, multiple pills and other items associated with illegal drug use.

Police then served a search warrant at the home on Windy Hill Lane.

Detectives found heroin, Suboxone and other drug-related items, according to Walcek.

Robert Mahan, 28, and Hillary Carey, 33, both residents of the home searched, and Priscilla Beliveau, 31, of Plympton are each facing multiple gun charges.

"These drug arrests were a direct result of citizen complaints to the tip line and Text-a-Tip," Walcek said. "Drug dealers should be warned that we will continue the push to arrest them and bring them to justice."

Anyone would like to send an anonymous tip to the Wareham Police Department can text 274637(CRIMES) on their cell phone. The text should start with "warehampd" followed by the message. An officer will reply.
