Three women charged for alleged Chinatown retail crime ring

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Three women are facing charges for their alleged role in an organized retail crime ring.

Prosecutors said the criminal enterprise investigation into the retail ring began 10 months ago. Security officers busted shoplifters who said they were bringing goods to "My-Tan Fashion", said prosecutors. Sometimes the women requested shoplifters get specific items, other times they would buy the items off shoplifters, said prosecutors.

Plainclothes investigators said they saw store brand products for sale at My-Tan Fashion, with the original price tag and a My-Tan price tag at a lower price. Items included everything from razors to antacids to designers clothes and shows.

Police conducted a search warrant at two Chinatown stores called "My-Tan Fashion" and "Super 99 cent Plus." The three women worked at the store and inside investigators found thousands of stolen items from stores like Macy's, DSW and CVS. Investigators also said they found counterfeit purses, wallets and toys.

Officials also said they found no cash register, business records or paperwork in the store during the search. The store was packed with merchandise and it took Boston Police Department 10 hours to go through all of it, said prosecutors. Items were being sold at 50 percent discount.

Phuong Quach, Fend Deng and Cindy Tran have been charged with receiving stolen property, distributing counterfeit goods and aggravated organized retail crime. They will be released on bail ranging from $300 to $500. The judge also ordered them to surrender their passports and report weekly for probation.
