MANCHESTER, N.H. - The Manchester Monarchs have decided to fold.
The minor-league hockey team, previously an affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, has decided this was the team's final season.
The decision was posted to the team's website, thanking fans for 18 seasons.
"After many years of investment and financial support, first from the Los Angeles Kings organization, and ultimately by a subsequent investor group, and after seeking assistance from the city, state and the arena, we have collectively decided this was our final season," the team wrote on its website.
The team has owned by PPI Sports, LLC since 2016 when the Kings moved the AHL affiliate Monarchs to Ontario, California. That move left Manchester with ECHL team, which was relocated from Ontario, California to New Hampshire.
The team had been seeking new ownership since January.
