TEWKSBURY, Mass. — A Tewksbury home went up in flames just hours after police were there and the owner’s sister is convinced it was intentionally torched.
Brenda Camello told FOX25 she thinks she knows what happened.
“I think this seems like something the tenants might've arranged,” the homeowner’s sister, Brenda Camello, said. “I know the man went to jail. He was calling my brother from prison complaining. I don't know if he threatened him, but I know he was calling saying volatile things to him from prison."
Records show Rick Stanichuk owns the house.
His sister says he went to court Monday to evict the tenants and a judge gave them 48 hours to get out.
Just hours after they were evicted Wednesday afternoon, the home burned to the ground.
Investigators from the state fire marshal's office were on site Thursday to investigate the blaze.
“I would say it's very suspicious, because when they got back from court my brother was a nervous wreck. He said 'oh my God, thank god the judge put them out in 48 hours,’" she said.
Wednesday afternoon police were called out a couple of times to keep the peace during the eviction.
Police told FOX25 they are very familiar with the address.
