Teen stops potential predator inside Boston shopping center

BOSTON — A 17-year-old is being called a hero after his family says he confronted a man at a Boston Target who had just rubbed his genitals against an unknowing young girl, and was following her down the aisles.

Cameron Cook is a high school student at Catholic Memorial, but his mother says he was acting like a man when he confronted the alleged sexual predator.

“I saw the look in his eyes, it was bone chilling,” Cameron's mom Heather Cook said.

Cameron said he watched the man follow the girl for a few minutes, not sure if it was possible that they knew each other, then he looked closer.

“He started rubbing himself, I thought that’s weird, then as she would be going down the aisles he would be following her,” Cameron said.

Cameron said he jumped in when it became clear what he was seeing - the man pressing his genitals against the unknowing girl as she was bending over.

“He made contact with her, he rubbed himself against her and she didn’t even notice it, she probably thought someone just brushed by her,” he said.

During the confrontation, Cameron said the man’s reaction sent chills down his spine.

“I confronted him, I said ‘excuse me do you know her?’ And he was like ‘I’m not a pervert, I’m not a pervert.’ That’s the first thing he said to me, and I was like ‘I didn’t ask you that,’” Cameron said.

Cameron and his mother say the man took off, but what happened is a tale of caution to watch your surroundings and if you see something, say something.

“I hope the takeaway for parents would be parents go into stores, they have a false sense of security their parents can walk away from them. In fact, there are predators watching their children and thank God for this little girl my son was there to save the day,” Heather said.

Heather said they reported the incident to store managers and security was alerted. It's unclear if there is surveillance video, and Boston police said they do not have a official report.
