Teen shot, pushed out of SUV in Methuen

METHUEN, Mass. — A 17-year-old male was shot and pushed out of an SUV in Methuen Sunday afternoon, according to local police.

The incident occurred around 12:30 Sunday afternoon on Davis Road. The teen, identified by police as a Methuen High School student, had emergency surgery at Lawrence General Hospital and was flown to Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston.

"It's pretty dramatic for our street," said Doug Ray, a resident of Davis Road. "We've got the middle school right behind our house, the high school across the way, so it's definitely unusual."

Police told Boston 25 News that the teen was shot in the shoulder.

Police are working to gather information on a potential suspect. Officials have said that a black SUV was involved, but they are unsure how fast the vehicle was going when the teen was thrown to the pavement.

"I saw the black car and the other person with me saw the black car open the door and then he took off real fast," said Debra Credit, a Methuen resident.

"We're hoping anybody that we haven't talked to that might live in that area from the public would reach out to us and give us a call and let us know if they saw anything," said a member of law enforcement.
