Suspect in woman's death has history of alleged domestic violence, court docs show

LOWELL, Mass. — New details have emerged in the disturbing death of a Tewksbury woman found beaten to death inside her apartment. Boston 25 News has obtained a restraining order issued to the suspect in the Tewksbury investigation from two other women who allege he abused them.

According to that restraining order, one of the women is the mother of their child.

The court paperwork reveals a pattern of domestic violence charges against Eric Griffin that only ends with the death of his latest girlfriend; Jennifer Kalicki was found apparently beaten to death in her Tewskbury apartment.

Just two days earlier, in texts published in court, Jennifer furiously texted Griffin's sister begging for help.

"He's ripped the door open. Choked me, slammed me to the ground," the texts read. "Please help me. He's losing it."

Help never came, and Jennifer was found dead the next morning.

Two other women have also accused Griffin of violence against them. At Lowell District Court, Boston 25 News obtained two restraining orders from the two other women alleging Griffin abused them.

The first is dated March 4, 2002. The woman wrote:

Eric Griffin pushed me into walls and a door, pushed me down the stairs, [and] choked me with visible marks on my neck.

Eric also held me for three hours and didn't let me leave. For 3 hours he pushed me, wouldn't let me leave, and pulled the phone out of the wall. If I screamed, he threatened to hit me again.

Those allegations resulted in a kidnapping charge against Griffin, but that charge was dismissed after the victim refused to cooperate.

The second restraining order is more recent. On January 18, 2017 that woman wrote:

On many occasions during our relationship he has physically, mentally, emotionally, financially abused me in front of our daughter. He is abusing drugs and threatening that people are going to find me and beat me up.

That second restraining order did not result in a new charge.

Eric Griffin right now is ordered held without bail. The charge against him could be upgraded once the Medical Examiner completes its investigation.
