BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A student was stabbed outside the John D. O'Bryant School of Mathematics & Science on Tuesday afternoon.
Police responded to the scene and officers put up crime tape outside one of the school's entrances on Malcolm X Boulevard in Roxbury.
The stabbing happened dismissal, and according to Nicole Gittens, the school's headmaster, a student was injured. The student returned to the school, where administrators called Boston EMS. His injuries are non-life threatening, Gittens said.
The school will have increased security on Wednesday and "the days ahead," Gittens announced in a call that was sent out to parents of students at the school.
"Any conflict is unacceptable and ensuring student safety is the most important thing we do. I know this is difficult news and that your thoughts are with the student who was hurt," Gittens said. "We will be working very closely with law enforcement moving forward to ensure safety at all times, both inside and outside of school."
