String of overnight fires in Plymouth under investigation

PLYMOUTH, Mass. — Plymouth Police are investigating whether a string of overnight fires in town are connected.

An arsonist set trash barrels outside of homes on Oar and Line, Morgan, Clark and Clifford roads on fire around 2 a.m. Wednesday. The barrels were left at the end of driveways for weekly trash pickup.

A portable toilet was also torched at a construction site on Clark Road.

Investigators are working to determine if the fires are connected to a fire that destroyed a cottage in Myles Standish State Forest. Firefighters discovered the charred remains of the home just before 6 a.m. after the Massachusetts State Police Air Wing reported a fire in the forest.

Anyone with surveillance cameras in the impacted neighborhoods is urged to contact Plymouth Police.
