Stoughton woman arrested for hit-and-run

STOUGHTON, Mass. — Stoughton Police have arrested a 23-year-old they say fled the scene of a pedestrian crash Wednesday night.

At 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, police were called to a report of a pedestrian struck at the intersection of Washington Street (Route 138) and School Street. Michael Conrad, a 40-year-old Stoughton man was taken to a Boston hospital with serious injuries to his head and back.

At the scene, officers found a passenger side mirror believed to be from the vehicle that struck the man in the crosswalk. Due to the parts number on the mirror, officers determined they were looking for a Nissan Sentra.

Officers ran a search of all white Nissan Sentras in town and found one registered to a Morton Street home, which officers say is close to the crash scene. Officers went to that home and found a white Nissan Sentra with damage to the windshield, a missing passenger side mirror, dents to the passenger side, bumper, hood, and fender; all damage consistent to the crash, according to police.

Police say 23-year-old Marlene Perdigao was driving the Sentra that struck the man.

Court paperwork says after striking Conrad, Perdigao went to her job at Dunkin Donuts before returning home.

During the investigation, police say Perdigao tried to mislead them and was ultimately charged with leaving the scene of an accident with personal injury, knowingly misleading police, and failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk. She was arraigned Thursday where she was released on $500 bail and will be back in court next month for a pre-trial hearing.
