EVERETT, Mass. — A fire at a salvage yard was sending up smoke that could be seen for miles in Boson Friday afternoon.
The fire, apparently at a salvage yard near the Mystic River, was billowing smoke that could be seen by drivers on 93 and others around downtown Boston.
Fire crews had put the flames mostly out by Friday evening, but planned to remain on scene through the night to make sure it didn't flare up again.
The salvage yard handles metal from cars, washing machines and other types of equipment where the fire started around 2:30 in the afternoon.
Officials said there were no injuries.
