Skimmers discovered at Boston Primark

NOW PLAYING ABOVE

BOSTON — Credit card skimmers were discovered at payment machines at several Primark locations, including in Boston.

Criminals use skimming devices to steal payment card data and are placed over payment card readers. They are usually undetectable to the average consumer.

The skimming devices were found Oct. 17 at Primark's Downtown Crossing location, as well as King of Prussia Mall in Pennsylvania,  Danbury Fair Mall in Connecticut, Willow Grove Park Mall in Pennsylvania, and Freehold Raceway Mall in New Jersey.

As soon as the skimmers were discovered, Primark said it immediately contacted law enforcement and removed the devices.

Based on early knowledge, Primark believes credit and debit cards information might have been stolen starting July 29

Not all credit and debit card transactions were impacted, but if shoppers did you a debit or credit card at an affected store during the time period, Primark encourages them to monitor their billing statements.
