NEW YORK CITY (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Singer Erykah Badu spontaneously decided to perform in Times Square, but the famed singer barely made enough to ride the subway.
Badu set up shop in Times Square, according to Yahoo, and donned an enormous hat she's been seen in before. She told Yahoo that she wanted to know what it would be like to sing in the street for money. She sang about what she was doing, asking people for money, and said she hadn't made a record in a long time.
Yahoo reported that the singer was not recognized and may have had a bigger audience if she sang one of her own songs. Unfortunately, the singer made less than $5.
âWe can buy us a juice,â she told Yahoo after totaling her $3.60 in earnings. âI can get me a sorbet.â
Her last album was released in 2010.
