BOSTON – There was not a dry in the house as fallen Yarmouth Police Sgt. Sean Gannon was given the highest honor from Big Brothers Big Sisters.
Gannon was killed last month while serving a warrant, but he left behind a legacy that went far beyond his uniformed service.
He was the kind of young man you'd want as a son, as a friend, you'd want as a colleague that you'd want your daughter to bring home,” Gov. Charlie Baker said.
Gannon was matched with 12-year-old Rylee through the Bigs in Blue program, which connects kids with police mentoring.

Sean and Rylee were like two peas in a pod. They did all sorts of fun things together,” Wendy Foster, President and CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Massachusetts Bay, said.
On Thursday, Big Brothers Big Sisters recognized Gannon as the Big of the Year for his unwavering devotion to making his community a better place.

“Sean loved a good time and he loved children so even in his off time this was his idea of having a good time,” Denise Gannon, Sean’s mother, said.
Gannon’s legacy will always live on, especially through Rylee, who now wants to be a police officer.
