Roxbury-native Michael Beach cast as Gov. Patrick in 'Patriots Day' film

Michael Beach has been cast as Mass. Gov. Deval Patrick.

BOSTON — An actor known for his role in ‘Sons of Anarchy’ will be adding his name to the cast for the upcoming film ‘Patriots Day.’

Michael Beach, a Roxbury native, will be portraying Mass. Gov. Deval Patrick.

Beach joins a star-studded cast for the film, which is based on real accounts from the Boston Marathon bombing and ensuing search for the Tsarnaev brothers that put the city into lockdown.

Mark Wahlberg, JK Simmons, John Goodman and Kevin Bacon have also been cast for various roles in the movie.

Beach previously appeared as T.O. Cross on 'Sons of Anarchy' and Charles Pike on 'The 100.'

The movie is based on several accounts of the day, including a book by local authors Dave Wedge and Casey Sherman. Former Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis also shared he recollection of events from that week with the filmmakers.
