Roughly 30 acres burned in Abington forest fire

ABINGTON, Mass. — Nearly 30 acres of land were burned in a forest fire in Abington early Saturday morning, according to the Abington Fire Department.

Members of the department were called shortly before 1:30 a.m. to the large brush fire in the woods between Hancock Street and Chestnut Street, the department said.

The fire was deep into the woods and away from buildings. Crews from Whitman, Rockland, Holbrook and Avon Fire Departments assisted.

No injuries or any damage has been reported. All units were cleared at 10 a.m.
