ABINGTON, Mass. — Nearly 30 acres of land were burned in a forest fire in Abington early Saturday morning, according to the Abington Fire Department.
Members of the department were called shortly before 1:30 a.m. to the large brush fire in the woods between Hancock Street and Chestnut Street, the department said.

AFD were joined by Whitman, Rockland, Holbrook, Avon Fire Depts. Ma. State 15.

The fire was deep into the woods and away from buildings. Crews from Whitman, Rockland, Holbrook and Avon Fire Departments assisted.
