Rockland Town Hall accountant placed on paid leave

ROCKLAND, Mass. – It has been a turbulent couple of months at Rockland Town Hall and now Town Accountant and Network Manager Eric Hart is the latest to come under fire.

Multiple sources told Boston 25 News Hart was placed on paid administrative leave this past weekend.

Hart has worked for the town for more than a decade.

When Boston 25 News called and visited his office at town hall on Tuesday, we were only told he was unavailable.

With Hart, three Rockland town officials are now on leave.

As we've reported, Town Administrator Allen Chiocca and Selectmen Vice-Chair Deidre Hall are being investigated for a late night encounter that took place at town hall. Both Chiocca and Hall have accused each other of sexually inappropriate behavior.

At this point, Boston 25 News has not been able to confirm why Hart has been placed on leave or if it has anything to do with the ongoing sex scandal.

When Boston 25 News contacted the town attorney, he declined to comment.

Boston 25 News attended a brief Board of Selectmen meeting Tuesday night. It was all business with no mention of the current strife in town government.

Boston 25 News attempted to contact Hart by phone and through a family member.

The Town of Rockland released the following statement concerning the situation:

“We confirm that Eric Hart, Rockland Town Accountant is on paid administrative leave at this time. His status is unrelated to the ongoing investigation into alleged misconduct by other officials.”
