(MyFoxBoston.com) -- You might want to be careful of what you say and send on some of the top social and dating apps.
According to the Huffington Post, hackers may have access to what users think are private messages.
Researchers from the University of New Haven looked at 21 different Android apps including Instagram, Vine, Kik, OkCupid, Grindr, and GroupMe.
They found that most apps don't encrypt stored data and don't require people to log into an account to view their profiles. Researchers say that means your information can easily be accessed by hackers over a wireless network.
Though many of the app makers did not respond to a request for comment, GroupMe said the company was "investigating," and officials at Grindr told the Huffington Post that workers there are always monitoring reports for security issues.
