Red Sox owner John Henry reportedly drops bid for Boston Globe

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) – Boston Red Sox owner John Henry has reportedly dropped his bid to buy The Boston Globe.

According to the Worcester Telegram and Gazette, which is another publication included in the deal, Henry is not one of the six groups remaining in contention to purchase the papers and their online properties.

Henry and the Red Sox are already part owners of NESN. The group did not meet Friday's deadline to submit "best and final" offers for the Globe.

Sources say bids range from $60 million to $80 million which is a great deal considering the New York Times bought the Globe for $1.1 billion back in 1993.
