SALEM, Mass. — A possibly record-breaking number of people are expected to visit Salem, Massachusetts on Saturday.
Halloween might only be next weekend, but many are eager to get spooky as early as possible.
"We like a good festive crowd and we figured the weekend before the big day would be a great day to attend, so we are here," said one person.
Kim Fox, the Executive Director for Destination Salem says the history of the town is a huge part of the reason why people flock there during the entire month of October, but for Halloween especially.
"Saturday looks like it has the potential to be our biggest day ever," said Fox. "They know that connection because of the historic Salem Witch Trials of 1692."
Organizers say traffic will be at a standstill and recommend people use public transportation to avoid overcrowding the streets.
Nevertheless, the town welcomes the thousands of expected visitors with open arms to celebrate the spookiest time of the year.
