New court documents reveal that prosecutors in the Aaron Hernandez double murder trial want to play a call between Hernandez and his mother that took place just four days before Hernandez was found guilty for the murder of Odin Lloyd.
The former New England Patriots tight end already is serving a life sentence with no possibility of parole for the 2013 murder of Odin Lloyd. Lloyd was a semi-professional football player who was dating the sister of Hernandez's fiancee.
Hernandez is being tried in the slayings of two other men - both of them fatally shot in 2012 after they left a Boston nightclub.
In court Wednesday, prosecutors said they wanted to play the call between Hernandez and his mother when a jury is seated in the Boston double murder trial. The last we saw Hernandez's mom was in April of 2015 -- Terri Hernandez was in tears as her son was found guilty for Odin Lloyd's murder.
"You have a big mouth," Hernandez allegedly says to his mother in the phone calls. "I just wish I could be closer with you, but I can't and it kills me."
According to court documents, Hernandez then scolds his mother, saying, "you're gonna die without even knowing your son. That's the craziest thing about it."
Terri Hernandez responds, saying "You would always tell me the bad things. Oh my god, such bad things. Why would you tell me those things? I talk, I have to talk about it."
During the same call, prosecutors allege Aaron Hernandez references a video recorded the night of Lloyd's murder.
"It shows me with a gun. Know what I mean? The video," Hernandez says.
Prosecutors are also seeking to introduce recordings of two jail calls Hernandez had with his long time friend, Mike Pouncey, of the Miami Dolphins.
In the calls, Hernandez tells Pouncey about the loyalty tattoo seen on his neck and another one with a stop sign and the words "Beware. No hesitation."
According to the transcript, Hernandez tells Pouncey, "You feel me? Like try me and there's no hesitation."
Opening statements are expected to begin March 1.
