1 person arrested after deadly shooting outside Randolph bar

RANDOLPH, Mass. — One person is in custody following a deadly shooting outside of the City Limits Saloon on North Main Street.

The shooting happened around 1 a.m. Wednesday morning. Officers were at the scene in a matter of seconds because they had just pulled someone over nearby.

When the officers heard about the shooting over the police radio, they ran over to the bar, chased after the suspect, and took Gregory Wright into custody right away.

According to the Norfolk District Attorney's Office, the victim was 23-year-old Drake Scott, an aspiring rapper.

Police say Scott was part of an open mic night at the bar when Wright allegedly showed up with a plan to kill him.

Wright even asked the bouncers which door Scott would leave through and followed him outside before shooting him five times at a close range.

In court, the district attorney said it took three officers to arrest him because he was fighting back and kicking.

One witness told police she heard a man in the bar say "the kid who killed my family member is here and he is going to get dealt with after the club."

But, according to prosecutors, there is no information showing that Drake was involved in any shooting.

"However we have no belief or understanding that the victim was ever involved in a shooting of that, of anyone and there is no record of it,” Norfolk County Prosecutor Greg Connor said.
