CARLISLE, Mass. — Police from Bedford and Carlisle were able to apprehend an alleged kidnapper and carjacker Saturday morning.
Police said they were called around 10 a.m. by a man who said when he went inside a gas station a man got into his vehicle and took off with the wife still inside.
Bedford police contacted Carlisle Police with a description of the vehicle and police in Carlisle were able to stop the truck.
Michael Sullivan, 25, of Quincy, was arrested during the traffic stop without further incident and the woman was unharmed.
"During a crime in progress, minutes and seconds can make a tremendous difference," Carlisle Police Chief John Fisher said.
Police told FOX25 that Sullivan walked out of the Bedford VA Hospital Saturday morning without permission.
They also say the Iraq War Vet suffers from mental health issues and is at the VA being treated for a heroin addiction.
Sullivan is being held on $10,000 cash bail and is scheduled to appear in court Monday.
