Pipe bursts force evacuations at several Downtown Crossing businesses

BOSTON — Several businesses in Downtown Crossing have been dealing with frozen pipes and other plumbing problems after the recent cold snap.

Monday afternoon a pipe burst in the Macy’s store forcing an evacuation as emergency crews responded.

There was also a sprinkler system in the nearby Citizen’s Bank which created problems at several other businesses and Suffolk University students who use the same building.

On Sunday a pipe burst in the Downtown Crossing CVS which caused water to cover the sidewalk turning it into a sheet of ice.
