NASHUA, N.H. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Fire officials are investigating what caused a fire that forced dozens of people from their homes Monday night.
Two buildings were badly damaged from the flames. The fire broke out at around 7:30 p.m. Monday at 64 West Hollis St. and quickly spread to the building next door. Officials say wind helped carry the flames.
Both buildings are three-story multi-unit apartment complexes and there is also a barber shop in the first floor of one of the buildings.
Dozens of people inside at the time were given just minutes to evacuate, with most of them leaving all their possessions behind.
It took more than 100 firefighters from six area departments several hours to put out the flames.
One firefighter was injured in the process and taken to the hospital but is expected to recover. All the residents managed to escape unharmed.
Roughly three dozen displaced people were staying at a nearby church, which the Red Cross set up as a shelter.
The cause of the fire remained unknown Tuesday morning.
