FALL RIVER, Mass. — A pair of playgrounds paid for by the New England Patriots were unveiled in Taunton and Fall River Tuesday.
Each city was granted $150,000 worth of playground equipment from the Krafts and the Patriots Foundation.
The equipment was designed with a Patriots theme and was built into two new playgrounds over the past six months.
"I think it's great. We have really needed a new, bigger park," Taunton parent Keri Correia, who lives across the street from the playground, told WPRI Tuesday. "The other one was pretty much run down and this is really great for all the kids."
Taunton's playground is at Weir Riverfront Park on East Water Street, and Fall River's is at Maplewood Park on Stafford Road.
Former Patriots linebacker Nicholas Grigsby, offensive lineman Ted Karras and safety Brandon King helped cut the ribbon on Taunton's playground before local children got to try it out for the first time.
"Amazing is an understatement," Correia said of the team's generosity. "I think it's very, very thoughtful. This city really needed it. It's amazing what they did for our town."
