OXFORD, Mass.(MyFoxBoston.com) -- A 40-year-old gym teacher was arraigned on rape charges Monday in Dudley District Court.
The man, Dung Nguyen, was arrested Sunday and held overnight at the police department on $540 bail. Monday morning, he was arraigned on charges of rape, aggravated rape and indecent assault and battery on a child under 14.
Nguyen is listed as a gym teacher at Oxford High School through the school's directory, and the school superintendent said he was placed on paid administrative leave pending the investigation, according to the Worcester Telegram & Gazette.
The prosecutor did not say how Nguyen knew the girl, but that she was about to turn 14 years old, the Telegram reported.
Nguyen admitted in court to touching the girl under her clothes but denied penetrating her.
Though the Worcester County District Attorney's office asked that Nguyen be held on $25,000 bail, he was ordered held on $5,000 bail and is currently at the Worcester County House of Corrections.
He will appear in court again June 17 for a pre-trial conference.
