BOSTON — When an unimaginable tragedy occurred late Saturday night in Orlando, Boston police were quick to offer support and resources to help handle what is now being described as "an act of terrorism."
After 50 people were killed in a popular Orlando nightclub and 53 more were left injured, police had to act quickly to save hostages and help survivors.
At a press conference Sunday morning, Orlando police specifically thanked Boston police for reaching out and offering support and resources.
"I also want to take this opportunity to thank all of the outpouring of law enforcement support from as far away as Boston and Chicago," Orlando Police Chief John Mina said.
Massachusetts State Police confirmed Sunday afternoon that the shooter called 911 before the attack and mentioned the Boston Marathon bombers.
However, police said they have not been able to find a link between the alleged shooter and Massachusetts.
