Boston Police Officer Dennis Simmonds has been posthumously promoted to sergeant, Boston Police say.
The promotion comes four years after his death, and five years after he suffered a head injury during a shootout with the Tsarnaev brothers in Watertown after the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing.
